Photograph framing

Black, white and silver frames are the best choice for framing black and white photographs.  Introducing colour would lead the viewer’s eye away from the black and white artwork and towards the frame. Unless you are showing off your framing skills, not the best response!

White is complex and subtle. It comes in cool and warm shades, pink and blue tints. Matching or complementing the warmth or coolness of the mount card with the warmth or coolness found in the photograph is important and is when a trained eye is helpful.

Colour photographs are suited to coloured frames and once the moulding has been selected, looking at gloss or mat finish.
